Abt Associates, a major American international development company, is implementing a USAID-funded Project to combat malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa. The main objective of the project will beto reduce the burden of malaria in a number of African countries through cost-effective indoor residual spraying and setting up comprehensive entomological monitoring system.
Abt Associates seeks qualified candidates for the project’s operations in Nigeria to implement entomological surveillance:
OFFICE ASSISTANT 3, AIRS2-NIGERIA (18541)
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
The International Health Division is committed to the improvement of health and healthcare delivery around the world. Serving both the public and private sectors, our efforts include health policy research and evaluation, health promotion and disease prevention, health finance, and health systems management. Our impact is felt in policies that ensure healthcare access for women, children, and individuals with special needs, in strengthening health infrastructures, and HIV/AIDS solutions.
The USAID-funded PMI AIRS (Africa Indoor Residual Spraying 2) Project supports the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), as well as USAID Missions and Bureaus with malaria programs outside the PMI focus countries, in planning and implementing IRS programs with the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria in Africa by enhancing USAID’s ability to implement IRS programs on the ground through cost-effective commodity procurement and logistics systems, access to technical expertise, and implementation of IRS in countries affected by malaria.
Under the supervision of the Country Finance & Admin Manager, the Office Assistant 4 provides a wide range of cleaning and maintenance support to the project office in Nigeria.
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
Cleans offices, kitchen, restrooms, corridors and other common areas, including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping and waxing floors; cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing sinks, commodes, faucets and other fixtures; cleaning and polishing doors, furniture, windows, mirrors and office machines and equipment; and emptying trash.
Checks and replenishes kitchen and bathroom supplies on a daily basis. Monitors stock of cleaning and paper supplies and informs the Finance & Admin Manager of purchasing requirements
Opens premises for the work day or closes the premises at the end of the work day.
Provides beverage service (tea, coffee, water) for guests and staff.
Answers telephone calls in absence of the Administrative Assistant.
Supports the Finance & Admin Manager, as needed, during high volume work periods, such as during conferences and spray campaigns.
Performs any other duties as required and/or assigned
Qualification requirements include the following:
Secondary School completion.
At least six (6) months of prior work experience in office support or custodial work.
Ability to communicate in English is required.
FINANCE ASSISTANT 8/ ACCOUNTANT (18681)
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
The International Health Division is committed to the improvement of health and healthcare delivery around the world. JOB SUMMARY
To support the project in the areas of budget formulation, financial planning, accounting/budget execution, and management advisory services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Records expenditures, income, and any other related transactions, in the books of accounts.
• Prepares payment vouchers and corresponding checks.
• Prepares payroll and other regular payments with due consideration to deductions (for advances, loans, taxes, etc).
• Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
• Checks petty cash payments and periodically reconciles petty cash balances.
• Keeps a register of fixed assets and maintains an easy cross reference system of all government property.
• Ensures that the books of accounts are up to date at all times, orderly, well kept, and readily available for reference and audit, when required.
• Prepares the monthly ROV in accordance with Abt Associates procedures and policies.
• Prepares monthly cash requests, and promptly advises action required to cover estimated costs.
• Liaise with Abt Associates International Accounting Department on all aspects of financial procedures and any issues that may arise.
• Ensures that government taxes are paid on time.
• Ensures that periodic inventory of the fixed assets (property) of the company is conducted.
• Assists the Finance &Administration Manager in the implementation of the internal control system and financial procedures manual of the company
SKILLS PREREQUISITES
• Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, or other relevant field.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in program accounting and bookkeeping.
• Experience at a development program working for an international donor organization is highly desirable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(2+) years of experience and bachelor degree OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
